Whoever you are, and wherever you have come from, allow me to welcome you to Preaching The Word. My name is Shane Lester, and my prayerful purpose behind this website is to provide a resource for my fellow pastors, teachers, students of the Scriptures, and those simply wishing to understand the Bible better. In a world where erroneous teaching and misrepresentation of the truth of Scripture seem to come from everywhere, it is my prayer that Preaching The Word can be a trusted resource to help you in your pursuit of Christ.
It is my conviction that the Bible is God’s revealed and preserved Word for all of humanity. It is God’s message for each of us. How did this happen? God “breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) His Word to men who were chosen for this very specific task. In doing so, He used their personalities, writing styles, and personal experiences to communicate His perfect message. God worked in and through these men in such a way that they recorded the very words He desired for them to record (2 Peter 1:21). The result is what you and I know as “the Bible,” sufficient to lead man into a saving knowledge of who Jesus is (2 Timothy 3:15), and sufficient to serve as our spiritual nourishment that we might grow in our faith (John 17:17; 1 Peter 2:2). Preaching that is derived from, centered on, and driven by the Word of God is what you will find here.
I am thankful beyond words to my friend and sister in Christ, Linda Kristensen, who has taken upon herself the task of transcribing each of these messages to make them available to all. May God use the weakness of my preaching and transform it to encourage the hearts of others and build His Kingdom!
A Little About Me
I was born and raised in the great state of West Virginia, spent five years hanging out with Uncle Sam (Army Strong), received my Bachelor’s from Moody Bible Institute and my Master’s from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. I am a husband, father, and follower of Jesus. I love my Savior and my family more than you could possibly imagine. My wife is the best and I married way above my head. My sons are full of life and few things fuel my spirit like they do. I love God’s heart, God’s Word, and God’s people! I can’t imagine a more rewarding way to spend my life than pouring into the riches of His grace and getting to share that with others.
